State Meet!!
Today was one of those days that you know you are going to tell again and again, it was one I will never forget. I am so lucky to be able to coach the distance team at our high school. I am on a staff with coaches I am proud to stand beside, Dustin is Head Coach, Elliott is sprinter coach, myself distance, Keith is pole vault, and Kevin is jumps coach. This staff of coaches trained some amazing athletes that ran their hearts out at the state meet today! And what makes it even more memorable is that Casey and Kyle are a part of this amazing track team! Today the 4x800 girls took 2nd place with a time of 9:33, boys 4x800 took 4th place coming in at 8:13 and setting a new school record! Kyle ran third leg of that relay. Our athletes are seriously some of the toughest kids who have trained in the rain, the cold, the heat. Today was 90 degrees!! Sarah broke the school record and won the mile by a huge lead at 5:03, then took away another win in the 3200 with an 11:22 time! Gabriella placed 5th in the mile at 5:14 and she's only a freshman! The sprinter team of girls 4x400 placed 2nd with a 4:01 time, 4x100 girls came in 8th place at 50.11, Jaelyn won the high jump at 5'4 and she placed 5th in 100mH 15.6 and Aubrey placed 10th in open 400 with 60.2. But I must be a biased parent and say the event that literally brought me to tears as a mother was when the 4x400 boys won the State title blowing the competition away at 3:19....and Casey ran 4th leg with an amazing 49 seconds! And I can't forget that the entire girls team placed 2nd overall today in the state of North Carolina!! As you can see, this day will be talked about for a long time!!!!
