The Mountains of North Carolina

We went skiing for the first time here in North Carolina.  It has taken waaaay to long, but the winter has been the mildest in years and snow, or even cold weather, has been scarce...everywhere!  But we caught a weekend that was fairly good weather wise and headed to the mountains.  As soon as we have a normal winter, the mountains will be great, this time they were just okay.  Despite that though, we had a good time.  The runs are a lot longer than Mad River, and we all like that a lot.  We went to Sugar Mountain one day and Beech Mountain the second day.  Sugar has a run that is one mile long, our legs were tired by the end of that one!  Since the snow was unseasonally low, the terrain parks were not open......Casey was bummed.  We found a couple jumps, but not what he was hoping for.  As soon as the weather gets back to normal we will head back up there!  It was still a good little ski trip......

Our first Christmas in North Carolina

The month of December was filled with new Christmas traditions being made here in North Carolina!  We went to see Christmas lights at The Charlotte Motor Speedway.  They had light displays set up all over, even on the track!  The cool part about that was that they let the cars drive onto the speedway.....the kids got out real quick and ran on the speedway....shhhhh, don't tell!  Since I am Kyle and Thomas' room parent I got to attend and help plan their holiday parties.  We also had some gingerbread house making going on in our own home!  And the elementary school had a Winter Fest complete with ice skating!  So in between all the shopping, wrapping,, and traveling....we managed to squeeze in some fun!

Christmas Day

After all that traveling around Ohio we were looking forward to the day at home.  The kids were up at the crack of dawn and the unwrapping began!!  The top gifts were beats, angry birds, bike, clothes, shoes, kindle fire, and many more.  A family membership to Carowinds was also high on the list!!

Our first Christmas in North Carolina was different, yet new traditions were made and we look forward to many more!!!
